Darrin has been interested in photography since his childhood, way back in the early 1970’s taking black and white photos with his first (all plastic) camera . He studied photography at Art College in the mid eighties and later on worked as a photographers’ assistant for a few years before starting his own business in the early nineties.

There have been many varied subjects photographed by Darrin over the last two decades; shoots around the world such as in the Caribbean, North Africa and Spain. Photographing the record attempt at circumnavigating the globe in a balloon by Sir Richard Branson, Damon Hill’s collection of super cars for his car club, studio portrait photos of Kim Wilde, to the “most wanted” gangsters of north London. His subject matter encompasses people with varied backgrounds such as politicians, Lords, Royalty, actors, CEO’s, the poor and the super rich.

He gets about these days: Helicopters, rooftops, climbing up massive cranes at dockyards, on small boats in the North Sea, Yorkshire coalmines, hospitals, heavy industry, offices, and some nice cosy days in the studio.

Still-life is also one of his main areas, clients including lifestyle and product photography for Bentley, consumer ads for Bosch appliances, abstract images of Yamaha music systems, and high end jewellery for Dublin designer Paul Sheeran. Interiors of luxury motor yachts for Fairline boats and Hilton’s boutique hotels are also among the jobs that Darrin has been commissioned to do. The images are used in many ways from websites to video covers, tube and 48/96 sheet posters.

Being a self confessed ‘foodie’ Darrin is often asked to photograph food, with the studio kitchen and Home Economists at his disposal he has take images for many demanding clients over the years. Last year he was on the BBC's One Show with a four minute feature about his food photography, click here to see the show.

His studio is 25miles north of Central London in the village of Codicote Hertfordshire, it is a former Free Church built in 1863, and now converted, makes an excellent studio and base from which to work.

Darrin says: "I love to find the new angles on the subjects and be creative with lighting and composition, often I am asked to photograph products in an abstract way and regularly asked for my creative and technical input. The whole process starts well before the shoot day, so that when the shoot day arrives everything runs smoothly.
